HOWLAND – Robert K. Mulligan Sr., passed away Nov. 30, 2004, in Togus, after a long battle with can-cer. He was born Nov. 11, 1945, in Kingman and was the son of the late Herman and Daisy (Lancaster) Mulligan. He attended Lee Academy and then joined the Army where he served for 11 years, including four tours of duty in Vietnam. He worked at Diamond International in Passadumkeag for more than 20 years. He was the Chief Shop Steward there for UPIU and then for PACE Local 80. He was a member of the Pulp and Paper Resource Council. He was also a selectman and Little League coach in Howland. He later served as commander for the Avon D. Flanders VFW Post in Lincoln in 2001 and 2002. He is survived by former wife and lifelong friend, Donelle Mulligan of Howland; a son, Robert K. Mulligan Jr. and partner, Kristine Cochran of Howland; a daughter, Renee Gilman and husband, Aaron, of Edinburg; four grandchildren, Kenneth and Elaina Goslin, Kacie Mulligan and Madison Gilman. He was predeceased by a sister, Darlene St. Peter, and survived by sister, Verdene “Skip” Thompson and husband, Cy, of Oxford; three brothers, Terrance Mulligan and wife, Mary, of Webster, Linwood “Jake” Mulligan and Sharon, of Saco, Richard Mulligan of Auburn and sister-in-law, Sally Mulligan of Westbrook; along with many loved nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to join in a Celebration of Life gathering, 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2004, at the Avon D. Flanders VFW Post on Route 2 in Lincoln Center.
