MCLEAN, VA. – Robert L. Bouchard, 75, of McLean, Va., died on Aug. 2, 2004, at a Washington, D.C. hospital. He was born at Portland, Jan. 11, 1929, the son of J. Simon and Bernadette (Boudreau) Bouchard. He grew up in Orrington and Brewer, and attended John Bapst High School. At 17, he joined the Merchant Marines, and for four years traveled to Europe, Japan and Australia. Moving to Washington, D.C., he was employed by Miles Glass Company until 1956, when he started Glass Distributors, Inc., with several of his colleagues in the glass industry. He served as president and CEO until his retirement in 2001, when his son Stephen purchased the company. He was an avid golfer and a lifelong Redskins fan, from Griffith Stadium to RFK. Along with family or friends, he attended nearly every home game the Redskins ever played at RFK Stadium. He is survived by five children, Robert E. and Stephen M. Bouchard of Arlington, Va., Eleanor M. Mackintosh of Berryville, Va., Margaret A. Bouchard of Bethesda, Md., and Michelle C. Wells of Fredericksburg, Va.; and his ex-wife and good friend, Iris, of Bethesda, Md.; he also is survived by four siblings, Lionel and Paul Bouchard and Julie Fish of Orrington, and George Bouchard of Fairfield, Calif.; and twelve grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Yvette G. Bouchard and Therese B. Lajoie. A memorial service was held in Virginia Aug. 15.
