HAMPDEN – Robert L. DeGrasse, 85, husband of Valada (Elliott) DeGrasse, died July 1, 2006, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor. He was born May 21, 1921, in Orono, the son of Henry and Theresa DeGrasse. Robert served his country well, retiring as a Senior Master Sgt. from the U.S. Air Force after 27 years. He honorably served in three wars, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, receiving numerous decorations. After retiring, he worked as a car salesman in the Portland area for Forest City Chevrolet for nine years. In addition to his wife of Hampden, he is survived by one son, Robert A. DeGrasse and his wife, Pat, of Gig Harbor, Wash. and their children, Shelley, David and Chris; one brother, Francis “Bud” and his wife, Alma, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Jim and Jack DeGrasse; and three sisters, Lucille, Eleanor and Annie. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Greenlawn Memorial Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Riverside Cemetery, Orono, with full military honors.
