NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. Robert L. Thibodeau died Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Bert Fish Medical Center, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Vermont, to Eloi and Elise (Albert) Thibodeau. Mr. Thibodeau was a longtime resident of Litchfield, Conn., before retiring to Florida in 1988. After the death of his mother, at a young age, Mr. Thibodeau resided with his grandparents, Fred and Ludivine (Jalbert) Thibodeau in Keegan. He graduated from Keegan’s high school in 1946 and served in the U.S. Army after World War II. After his discharge from the military, he married Bernadine O’Donnell of Watertown, Conn. The couple made their home in Litchfield, Conn., and raised their two children there, where Mr. Thibodeau operated a fruit and vegetable retail establishment. Mr. Thibodeau was predeceased by his wife, his parents and grandparents; older sister, Florence Thibodeau; and a younger brother, Gilbert Thibodeau. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara A. Hughes of Marietta, Ga.; his son, Robert J. Thibodeau and his wife, Patti, of Torrington, Conn.; grandchildren, Mark A. Thibodeau of Hartford, Conn., and Lisa M. Thibodeau of Stafford, Conn.; one great-grandson, Giovanni of Stafford, Conn.; brother, Albert Thibodeau of Hamden, Conn.; half brothers, Leo Thibodeau of Waterbury, Conn., Joseph Thibodeau of Silver Spring, Md., and Norman Thibodeau of Margate, Fla. The family will hold a private memorial service in the fall at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren.
