ROBERT LEROY WINSHIP HODGDON – Robert Leroy Winship, 73, died unexpectedly and went home to be with his Lord July 17, 2008, at his home. He was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Ludlow, the eldest son of six children to Walter and Helen (Clark) Winship. Bob was a hard working man, who became self-employ-ed at age 15 when he went to work in the woods. In 1970 he began his farming career. He and his young family moved to their current farm that has flourished and grown in size to this day, where the second generation has continued his legacy. Bob had a quiet demeanor with a strong work ethic that made him respected by many community members. He was a member of the Army National Guard for 12 years. Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley (Delong) Winship of Hodgdon; two children, Peter and his wife, Diane Winship, of Littleton and David and his wife, Lisa Winship, of Hodgdon; six grandchildren, Tessa, Matthew, Jessica, Hannah, Allison and Evan; four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Logan, Oakley and Alexis; sisters, Pauline Megquier of Danforth, Doris Hollensbee of New Jersey and Rose Winship of New York City; one brother, Thomas and his wife, Sandra, of Old Orchard Beach; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his par-ents; and one brother, George. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, with funeral services being held 1 p.m. Sunday at Military Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Burns officiating. Interment will be at Hodgdon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the City on the Hill project, care of Military Street Baptist Church, P.O.
