KITTERY – Robert Louis Murphy, 68, passed away peacefully April 6, 2008, surrounded by loved ones, at home, after a brief illness. Born March 16, 1940, the 10th of 24 siblings, Bob grew up in Old Town. He graduated from Old Town High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army for three years before returning to the seacoast to marry his soul mate, Judy Armstrong, in 1964. He graduated from New Hampshire Vocational Technical School and worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as an electronics technician for 17 years. He was known as the local fix-it man and jack-of-all-trades by everyone who knew him. Bob was a very active member of his communities; enjoying time spent umpiring and coaching baseball, active in church projects, Christian education and the choir. Bob enjoyed playing many sports and most importantly, time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy Murphy; children, Kathleen, T.J. and Beth Murphy; daughter-in-law, Vicki Murphy; grandchildren, Craig and Kylie Murphy and Caleigh and Carter Bousquin; siblings and their spouses, Ray and Brenda Willette, Nancy Michaud, Earl and Geraldine Randall, Frankie and Rosie Randall, Cora and Kenny Young, James Murphy, Marion Wood, Dickie and Gertrude Murphy, Blanche Oaks, Faye Mitchell, Billy and Challis Randall and Benny Gallant; and many extended family and dear friends; including his best friend, Lee Shea. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Rosella Randall and Thomas Murphy; siblings, Edward Murphy, Rosie Smith, Carolyn Murphy, Thomas Murphy, Eugene Randall, Buddy Randall, Elaine Randall, Francis Randall, Beryl Murphy and Junior Randall. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Whipple Road, Kittery. Donations may be made in his memory to the University of New England Anatomical Donations Program, 11 Hill Beach Road, Biddeford, ME 04005 or St. Raphael’s Church, Whipple Road, Kittery, ME 03904.
