ORONO – Robert R. White Sr., 80, died March 30, 2008, at an Orono health care facility after a long illness. He was born Aug. 29, 1927, in Old Town, the son of Ora P. and Violet (Weeks) White. He was a member of Holy Family Church, Old Town and Old Town Lodge of Elks No. 1287, where he served as exalted ruler from 1984 to 1985. He worked for 49 years at Striars, Orono. Robert was predeceased by two sons, Anthony R. and John A. White; three brothers, Franklin, Herbert and Lawrence White; and three sisters, Alice, Virginia and Ruth. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Theresa (Damboise) White; a sister, Betty Tripp of Old Town; two brothers, Neil White of Orono and Norman White of Amarillo, Texas; a son, Robert R. White Jr. of Greenfield; a daughter, Janet and her husband, Donald Skillin, of Bucksport, along with many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from the Damboise family. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Sarah White; a grandson, Donald Skillin Jr. and wife, Candace, of Bucksport; and three great-grand-children, Bryana and Zachary White and Autumn Skillin, all of Bucksport. He will also be greatly missed by a special niece, Debbie Gilman of Argyle. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at Holy Family Church, Old Town, with a reception immediately after. Donations may be made in Bob’s memory to a charity of one’s choice. Services entrusted to the care of Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town.
