ROBERT W. LEEMAN ORLAND – Robert Wayne Leeman died peacefully surrounded by his family Wed-nesday, March 23, 2005, at his home. Bob was born May 22, 1932, at the Wasson Homestead in Orland, the son of Basil K. and Florence (Small) Leeman. Bob was a member of Bucksport High School, Class of 1950, and proudly served in the Korean War with the U.S. Navy as a bombardier on PB4Y2B naval aircraft, primarily in the Mediterranean support theatre. He went from the armed services to begin his career first as a lineman and later as an I/R technician with New England Telephone Company, and later a PBX and Business service technician with AT&T after the 1983 divestiture of the Bell System, until his retirement from telephone service in 1985. Bob and Bonnie enjoyed retirement years first managing Yoke Pond Sporting Camps, and eventually owning and operating the South Inlet Campgrounds on First Roach Pond, Kokadjo, for 13 years. Bob was predeceased by his parents; an infant brother, Charles; cousin, “Donnie” Small; son, Jeffery Michael Leeman and infant son, Kerry Michael Leeman. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie (Robinson) Leeman of Orland; brother, James and Minerva Leeman of Bucksport; children, Brian and Suzi Leeman of Bucksport, Robert James Leeman of Orland, Jessica Ann and Daniel DeRaps of Ellsworth, Robert and Cherie Mercer of Stockton Springs, Michael Mercer of Swanville, Stacy and David Brooks of Bangor, and Christina and Christopher Baker of Belfast; his treasured 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His quiet charm, warm and selfless nature, sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor touched all that were fortunate to encounter him, and he will certainly be missed by his family and friends. A graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery, Orland, will be held in the spring at a time to be announced by the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
