BANGOR – Rockwell “Rocky” S. Murchison, 49, died Jan. 4, 2004, unexpectedly at a local hospital. He was born March 21, 1954, in Lincoln, the son of Henry and Ruth (Dolan) Murchison. He graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1972, and attended EMTC. He was a mechanic with Hughes Brothers of Hampden for many years. Rocky’s love was to sail on the Evening Star that he owned with Steve Soucy. He enjoyed working on hot rods with Larry Bowden, enjoyed NASCAR and attending races at Loudon, and hanging out with George Lavoie and the Gang at the Hammond Street Garage. Rocky was a member of the Bangor Elks Club. He is survived by his father, Henry Murchison of Lincoln; three brothers, Jeffrey Murchison and his wife, Julie, of Chester, Henry Murchison of Bangor, Michael Murchison of Lincoln; three sisters and their husbands, Patty and Steve Abbott of Wisconsin, Debbie and Robert Ortiz of Virginia, Kathy and John Barron of Bangor; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Ruth (Dolan) Murchison. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Renee U. Garrett, Minister of Christian Nurture of All Souls Congregational Church, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, following the service.
