MILLINOCKET – Roderick Earl James, better known as “Jessie” or “Jess”, 77, passed away at a local health care facility Monday, March 7, 2005. He was born April 19, 1927, in Sherman Mills, the son of Chester and Verna (James) Morgan. He was a graduate of Sherman Mills High School, Class of 1945. Roderick received honorable discharge after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He took finance training at Ben, In. after which he was employed by federal and state as Potato Inspector for two and a half years. He also worked for Stone and Webster Construction in East Millinocket for a year, and after that he worked for Great Northern Paper Company for more than 32 years and was also a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union. Retiring in 1987, he loved to hunt, fish, pitch horseshoes at family reunions, and play card games with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor James of Millinocket; his four daughters, Donna Quale of St. Petersburg, Fla., Madeline James of Lewiston, Eileen McLaughlin and special friend, Roger Tardiff, of Millinocket, Carolyn Donley and her husband, Tom, of Millinocket; one son, Henry C. James of Kentucky; a special daughter-in-law, Joan James of Kentucky; a special son-in-law, James Quale of Florida; a “special” sister, Mary Ellen King of East Millinocket; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter, Lois James; his sister, Lola Charette; and his two brothers, Edgar Morgan and Adrian Morgan. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where a funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, with Pastor David Chicoine officiating.
