CARIBOU and ST. PAMPHILE – Rodney D. Sirois, 62, well-known area retired Maine game warden and outdoorsman, died July 22, 2006, in Boston. He was born Oct. 8, 1943, in Caribou, the son of Delwyn and Frances (Parsons) Sirois. He was a 1961 graduate of Caribou High School and received an associate’s degree from Suffolk Community College in Long Island. He married Judith Kallmann Sirois May 15, 1971. Mr. Sirois joined the U.S. Navy where he attended Basic Underwater Demolition School and became a Navy Seal. During his military career he attended the High Altitude Low Opening School, HALO, The Senior Enlisted Academy and received numerous awards and citations, including the Joint Service Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal. He served with the U.S. Navy and reserves for 20 years. After his military career, Rodney then served for more than 18 years as a Maine game warden. He attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation Academy. He was a Registered Maine Master Guide and owned and operated Northern Hideaway Camps for many years. Rod was a first-degree karate black belt and held his private and commercial pilots license. Surviving, in addition to his wife of St. Pamphile, are his two sons, Clement Sirois of St. Rock, P.Q., Canada and Guy Sirois of Marieville, P.Q., Canada; his stepfather, Bert Blanchard of Caribou; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins including three special Caribou High School classmates of 1961; uncle, Jay Sirois; and cousins, Donald Levesque and Richard Johnson, whom Rod also joined the Navy with. The Sirois family wishes to thank Pat Holler, a Navy Seal comrade and special family friend, for his many acts of kindness and compassion shown to them over the past several weeks. Friends may call 10 a.m. Friday until time of departure for services at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday from the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr. Sirois may do so through American Cancer Society or the Angel Flight Network.
