NEWPORT – Rodney “Jack” L. Knowlton, 66, died Aug. 23, 2006, at his home. He was born Sept. 30, 1939, in Dixmont, son of Leonard and Fannie (Henderson) Knowlton. He worked as a woodsman for most of his life and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by three daughters, Sandra and her husband, David Linnell, of Mariaville, Robynn Ludden and Laurine Knowlton, both of Newport; two brothers, Ernest Knowlton of Newport and Roger Knowlton of Florida; three sisters, Vivian Black of Brewer, Althea Brasslett of Florida, and Madelia Gatcomb of Kenduskeag; six grandchildren, George Curtis, Hailey Ludden, Gregory Ludden, Christopher Knowlton, Eric Linnell and Elizabeth Linnell; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece and care giver, Gloria Knowlton of Corinna; special friend, Morris Brann of Newport; sister-in-law, Eleanor Knowlton of Levant. He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria (Randall) Knowlton; a brother, Morris “Bob” Knowlton; and a sister, Ruth Shaw. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev.
