Roger Pike Roger Pike was born May 18, 1943, the only son of Winthrop S. and Ruby H. Pike. He was raised in Hermon and graduated from Hermon High School, Class of 1961. He attended the University of Maine briefly before going to work at Foster-Grant Co., Research Laboratory, Leominster, Mass. He passed away April 22, 2008, at the age of 64, after a two-year struggle with multiple myeloma. Roger joined the U.S. Air Force in 1964 and served until 1968, including a one year tour in Vietnam, 1966-1967. After serving in the Air Force, he worked at various companies in the Philadelphia area. In 1970, he went to work for Scott Paper at the Philadelphia Research Headquarters Lab. In 1973, he transferred to the S.D. Warren Research lab, Westbrook, which at the time, was owned by Scott Paper Co. in 2000, Roger retired from Sappi Research Lab, Westbrook after 30 years of service as a senior research technologist. Roger was an avid golfer and member at Salmon Falls Country Club, Hollis, for many years. He also helped design Hermon Meadow Golf Club, Hermon and ran several marathons when he was younger. He enjoyed playing pinochle, reading, going for walks and spending time with friends. Roger will be sorely missed. Roger was predeceased by Elaine, his first wife of 30 years, in 1998. He is survived by his second wife, Jessi Wolf. He is also survived by two sons, Roger of Memphis, Tenn., and Timothy of Old Orchard Beach. He is also survived by two stepdaughters, Holly Williams of Gorham and Kate Nelson and her husband, Jason, of Gray; and three stepgrandchildren, Kayla, Joseph and Jamie. He is also survived by two sisters, Beverly Clark of Belfast and Jane Bennett and her husband, Peter, of Holden. There will be a memorial service 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 28, at Cressey Road United Methodist Church, Cressey Road, Gorham.
