GLENBURN – Roland “Rollie” Leland passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Mass General Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Brewer, the son of Herbert and Geneva Leland. Rollie was the husband of Florence Bagley Leland, who predeceased him. Rollie served in the Air Force during World War II and later worked many years for NASA space program, as an engineer. Rollie worked on the Lunar Explorer Module and on the space shuttles. He was an avid sports fan and liked the Red Sox and Washington Redskins. He is survived by one son, Timothy Leland and his wife, Lynn, of Maryland; one sister, Juanita Ryan of Glenburn; several nieces and nephews, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one brother, Gordon Leland; and one sister, Herberta Barker. There will be a memorial service 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Community of Christ Church, 128 Pierce Road, Brewer. He will be interned with his wife in Maryland.
