BANGOR – Ronald Edward FitzPatrick, owner of HiTech Video, ended his struggle with cancer among his family in his home Feb. 16, 2004. Ron was born in Arlington, Mass., in 1939. He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Ron was a fierce competitor with a wry sense of humor who enjoyed racing his Hobie Cat sailboat, playing racquetball, Frisbee, golf and cruising Branch Lake in his party boat. He participated in the Kenduskeag, Penobscot, Souadabscook river races and completed a lifelong goal of becoming a licensed pilot at the age of 62. Ron is survived by his wife, Mary P. FitzPatrick; and two children, Amy-Jane Mooney and her husband, Michael, and Scott FitzPatrick, his partner, Ellen Perris and granddaughter, Natalie FitzPatrick; one brother, Roy FitzPatrick, his wife, Dale; many nieces and nephews. His family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Thomas Openshaw and the cancer care staff at EMMC and the EMMC hospice caregivers. A very special thank you to Dr. Richard Lenz. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson, Chaplain of Husson College, officiating. Family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., immediately following the service Thursday.
