HAMPDEN – Ronald S. Jepsen French, 71, husband of Patricia A. (Pelletier) French, passed away Feb. 29, 2004, at his home in Hampden. He was born Oct. 2, 1932, in Yuma Ariz., the son of Donald and Kitty (Jepsen) French. Ronald held a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Orono, and served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring with 23 years of service in July 1974. Ronald served in the Korean War, was combat wounded and received the Purple Heart. He was a police dispatcher for the Bangor Police Department, retiring in 1989 after 10 years of service. He enjoyed trains, bowling, softball, was an avid reader and sports fan, and a former Boy Scout Leader. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia of Hampden; four children, David A. Brewer of Kenduskeag, Robert O. Brewer of Bangor, Deborah A. Smith of Hampden, and Rhonda M. Haradon and her husband, Robert Scott Haradon, of Brewer; two sisters, Celeste Taylor and Mary Dodd; four grandchildren, Jordan T. Brewer, Benjamin R. and Andrew D. Smith and Morgan R.D. Haradon. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Dick Woehr, officiating.
