WEST TREMONT – Ronald Vern Smith, 71, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly, June 1, 2006, at his residence. He was born March 18, 1935, in Stillwater, the son of Inez (Willey) Smith and the late William “Bill” Smith. Ronald loved hunting, working in his garden, and running his small painting business. He is survived by his mother, Inez (Willey) Smith; three brothers, Reginald Smith and his partner, Lucille Frost, Richard Smith and his wife, Julie, of Chickasha, Okla., Reynold Smith and his partner, Ellie Fortenberry; one sister, Rosalind Hodgdon and her husband, Ben; four daughters, Ronette Hesseltine and her fiance, Charles O’Berry, Penny Curtis, Patty Smith and Tammy Leppin; four grandchildren, Erica Bragdon and her husband, Josh, Alan Curtis, Ryan Stanhope and Charlie Leppen; several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his long-time partner, Eva Lunt and her family; very greatly missed by his friend, George Carter and his partner, Dottie Mossenteen; and good friends, Frank and Tammy Rummil and their children. A graveside memorial service for family and friends will be held 1 p.m. June 10, at the Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth with the Rev. Norma Smith officiating.
