WALDOBORO – Ronald W. Dolliver Sr., loving husband, father, son and friend, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born Oct. 9, 1946, in Bar Harbor, a son of Russell and Charlotte Burton Dolliver. He graduated from Portland High School. Devoted to his country, he was proud to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam War in combat operations on river patrol craft. He married Jeanne A. Rapa March 21, 1980, whom he cherished for 26 years. Ron strove for excellence in everything he pursued. He was a graduate of the Maine State Criminal Justice Academy and numerous law enforcement training programs. For 29 years he served with pride in the Maine Marine Patrol and retired as a sergeant. Soon after, he became a licensed private investigator. Ron derived great joy from spending time talking, laughing and often cooking at family and social gatherings. A licensed boat captain, he was relaxed spending time on the water fishing or lobstering. He also enjoyed deer hunting and playing blackjack with his sons. He was especially proud of his wife’s and children’s diverse accomplishments and educational achievements. Ron’s kindness, generosity and quick wit were great personal strengths that enriched others’ lives. Qualities such as his willingness to go out of his way to help others coupled with his sincerity, warmth and energetic demeanor, drew many people into his life who loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years; two sons, Ronald Dolliver Jr. of Sanford and Richard and his wife, Boriana Dolliver, of Ogunquit; three daughters, Darcey J. DO and her husband, Kevin Leighton, of South Portland, Jennifer Hogan of Jacksonville Beach, Fla. and Alisha Dolliver of Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, Steven and his wife, Sandra Dolliver, of Trenton and Billy D. of Naples; three grandchildren, Derek Dolliver of Sanford, Karli Leighton of South Portland and Devin Dolliver of New Hampshire; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Muriel Rapa of Bath; and two aunts, Eva Adams and Margaret Gordious, both of South Portland. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 144 Lincoln St., Bath. A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall immediately after the funeral service. Interment with honors provided by the Maine Marine Patrol Honor Guard will take place at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ron W.
