STOCKHOLM – Rosalind Sodergren, 96, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at the family camp on Madawaska Lake, Stockholm. She was born Sept. 16, 1911, in New Sweden, the daughter of Herman and Helena (Lundgren) Anderson. She graduated from local schools and Aroostook State Teachers College, Presque Isle. Rosalind taught seven years in New Sweden and Jemtland in a one-room schoolhouse teaching all eight grades. She then taught mostly first and second grades for 21 years in Stockholm. During that time she married Arthur Sodergren with whom she would spend 42 years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, traveling and spending summers at the family camp on Madawaska Lake. Rosalind was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Stockholm. She is survived by two sons, Marvin Sodergren and his wife, Sally, of Lebanon, Conn., and Melvin Sodergren of Crestwood, Ky.; one daughter, Shirley Labieniec and her husband, Dan, of East Syracuse, N.Y., six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one stepgranddaughter. She is also survived by a brother, Richard Anderson of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Helene Ludwig of Titusville, Fla.; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arthur in May 1979. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Stockholm with Pastor Dan Labieniec officiating. Interment will take place after the service at Stockholm Cemetery.
