BREWER – Roy Lewis Arnold, 83, husband of Edwina Arnold for 55 years, died Jan. 30, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born July 9, 1920, in Brewer, the son of the late Walter F. and Jennie G. (Murray) Arnold. Roy served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Ralph J. Pollard Lodge No. 217 A.F. & A.M., and the Isaac E. Clewley V.F.W. Post No. 4917, Brewer. Roy worked for most of his life at Eastern Fine Paper, and after his retirement he loved working outside around his house. He loved sports, the ocean, and going to the coast, but Roy especially loved his wife and children. Surviving in addition to his wife, Edwina, are two daughters, Janet and her husband, Shady Blackwell, of Brewer, and Nora and her husband, Donald Riley, of Eddington; grandchildren, April Blackwell and Matthew Goodine, Brook and her husband, Adam McLaughlin, and Jay Blackwell and Nida Sariya; two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Devin Goodine; brother, Edson Arnold; two sisters, Ruth Bickford and Phyllis Adams; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Everett and Lawrence Arnold. The family would like to thank the Staff at the Maine Veterans Home and New Hope Hospice for all their loving care. A special thank you to Gilligan’s special care giver. A graveside service will be held at Jonathan Eddy Cemetery, Eddington, in the spring with Military Honors.
