DEER ISLE – Royal M. Robbins, 81, died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at a Blue Hill hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1924, in Deer Isle, the son of Maynard and Beatrice (Stinson) Robbins. Royal attended Deer Isle High School. He was a lobster fisherman his entire life until his retirement. After his retirement, Royal fished with his son, Tim, for a few years. He was a member of Marine Lodge No. 122, AF & AM in Deer Isle. Royal is survived by five children, Karen Welch Thompson and her husband, John, of Hollis, Rosalie Jones Keen and her husband, Ken, of Sunshine, Susan Robbins Till and her husband, Steve, of Gilbert, S.C., Tim Robbins and his wife, Susan, and Ben Robbins and his wife, Debbie, all of Deer Isle; three sisters, Rosemond Teter of Tampa, Fla., Sylvia Hinzke and her husband, Ted, of Miami, Fla., and Marlene Hanson and her husband, Stan, of Gray; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grand-children; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Royal was predeceased by his brother, Allston Robbins. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Main Street, Stonington, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday with Elder Mike Shepard officiating. Private interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Sunshine.
