HERMON, PRESQUE ISLE and SPRING HILL, Fla. – Ruby C. McCready-Adams, 88, wife of Raymond J. Adams of Spring Hill, Fla., died July 4, 2006, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born Feb. 28, 1918, in Washburn, the daughter of William and Ora E. (Smith) Randall. Mrs. Adams was a graduate of Washburn High School, Class of 1935. Ruby married Laurence Sanborn in 1935; she was a member of the Mars Hill Methodist Church and sang in the choir. Ruby was the manager of Sears & Roebuck Stores in Houlton for 15 years, a director of the Houlton Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Professional Business Women’s Club, member of the Houlton Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge. In 1961, she married Cecil D. McCready of Presque Isle. She was the president of the Firemen’s Auxiliary, a member of the Squa Pan Outing Club and a member of the OES for more than 50 years. After Cecil retired, they spent their winters in Florida and their summers at their camp at Squa Pan Lake. Ruby returned to Florida after her second husband, Cecil, died and four years later married Raymond J. Adams in 1989. She was a member of the Christian Church of the Wildwood at Weeki Wachee, Fla. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Sanborn) Hersey Ingalls and husband, Wayne, of Hermon; two stepdaughters, Anne (McCready) Amero and husband, Louis, of Mapleton, Elizabeth (McCready) Lamb and husband, Richard, of Caribou; a stepson, Raymond Adams and wife, Karole, of Brooksville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Vaughn L. Hersey and wife, Joanie, of Powhatan, Va., Lauri (Hersey) Jacobs and husband, Brian, of Glenburn, Christopher Hersey and wife, Michele, of Brewer, Vicki (Amero) Harris and husband, LeRoy, of Presque Isle, Scott Amero and wife, Laurie, of Mapleton, Brian Amero of Westfield, Jay Amero and wife, Carmen, Michael Amero and wife, Nola, and Matthew Amero and wife, Doryjean, all of Presque Isle, Kelly (Lamb) Chartier and husband, James, and Kristopher Lamb, all of Caribou; 16 great-grandchildren; two nephews, Donald William Randall of Tampa, Fla. and Merle Randall and wife, Gwen, of Indian Orchard, Mass.; a niece, Barbara Randall of Rutland, Mass. Ruby was predeceased by her brother, Donald Randall of North Brookfield, Mass.; her second husband, Cecil McCready; two stepbrothers, Allan J. Witherly of Bridgewater and Merle Witherly of Fort Fairfield. At Ruby’s request the family will have a private gathering at her burial place at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
