ST. AGATHA – Russell C. Staples, 60, died Jan. 13, 2007, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 24, 1946, the son of Charles A. and Norma (Smallwood) Staples. He graduated from Brunswick schools and the University of Southern Maine. He was a schoolteacher for MSAD No. 33, St. John Valley Technical and valley schools. He served in the U.S. Air Force, was a member of the American Legion Post 145 of Frenchville, Topsham Grange and AREA and St. John the Baptist Anglican Church of Edmundston, New Brunswick. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Doris (Deschaine) Staples; four brothers, Timothy of Topsham, Charles of Las Vegas, Wallace of Dayton, Texas and Michael; a very special Uncle Fred Smallwood of North Attleboro, Mass.; special friends, Burton and Carol Wrisley and family and Richard and Marilyn Russell and family. He was predeceased by his parents; and one brother, Blaine. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at the Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. A service will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Valley Church, St. Agatha with the Rev. Fran Bedell and the Rev. David Raymond officiating. For those who desire, donations may be made to the Edgar Paradis Cancer Fund and Pioneer Educational Foundation and the St. John the Baptist Anglican Church or any charity of your choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
