NEWPORT – Russell D. Lawn Sr., 63, died July 29, 2006, at his Grove Street residence. He was born July 2, 1943, in Boston, a son of Francis and Frances (Ceurvels) Lawn Sr. He graduated from Boston schools and served in the U.S. Navy. He had been employed as warehouse manager at South Shore Electric in Weymouth, Mass., Eagle Electric in Boston and Gilman Electric in Newport, after moving here. After retiring, Russell enjoyed volunteering with his friend, Howard Seavey, setting up the men’s breakfasts at Calvary Baptist Church, Newport. He enjoyed a good card game such as cribbage, poker and rummy 500. Russell was predeceased by his son, Russell D. Lawn Jr. March 8, 2006; and by a grandson, Joshua Sawyer March 19, 2006. He is survived by a son, Robert Lawn of Plymouth, Mass.; a daughter, Richelle Lawn of Pittsfield; three brothers, F. Thomas Lawn of Newport, Stephen and Edward Lawn, both of Massachusetts; a sister, Ann Marie Waluk of Thorndike; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
