ORRINGTON – Ruth A. Ring passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday morning Nov. 12, 2003, at her home in Orrington. She was born Aug. 23, 1930, to Leroy and Maude (Dyer) Chambers. Her father was the late Allen M. Ireland. She graduated from Brewer High School in 1948. She married Lawrence “Jink” E. Ring Jr. on Oct. 27, 1950, in Orrington, where they made their home and raised three children. She was a devoted mother to her children and was especially proud of her three granddaughters. She made many friends at the Brewer Shop and Save where she shopped rather frequently. Many a stranger would approach Mother to compliment her “hair-do,” which always gave her family a good laugh. She was predeceased by her husband in 1978, and a son, Michael Ring, in 1998. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Terry A. Ring; a son, Larry Ring, and daughter-in-law, Terry L. Ring; grandchildren, Judy Long and husband, Jay, Heather Ring and Angela Ring, brother, Richard Ireland and his wife, Linda, who was a special sister-in-law. She also is survived by sister, Donna Prescott and her husband, Keith; sister, Bonnie Strout and her husband, Steve; brother-in-law, Charles Ring; brother-in-law, Frank Ring and his wife, Sally; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She will be missed by longtime friend and hairdresser, Roger George. Her family also is grateful for the care provided by Dr. Roy Corbin. A graveside service for family and friends will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Marston Cemetery in Orrington with the Rev. Adam Soderberg officiating. Funeral arrangements are being made by Brookings-Smith in Bangor. After the service, a gathering will be held at Terry A. Ring’s home.
