BELFAST – Ruth E. (Carr) Yeaton, 79, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, went home to be with her Lord March 31, 2008, after battling a courageous fight with cancer. She passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 12, 1928, in Lewiston. She was lovingly raised by the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Community, New Gloucester. In 1954 she married Roland A. Yeaton and together they raised a family of seven children. She worked locally at several manufacturing companies in Belfast and made life-long friends everywhere she worked and lived. She enjoyed spending her winters with her husband in Zephyrhills, Fla., where she leaves many friends. She had an incredible sense of humor; as one friend put it, “Ruth is funny without even trying.” She took immense pleasure in her many grandchildren and great-grand-children. She was also quite proud of her Scottish ancestry and enjoyed listening to the bagpipes on many occasions. She was a woman of unwavering faith. Her greatest accomplishment was instilling the holy Word in her children. Survivors include her husband of 54 years; seven children, Roland “Skip” and wife, Gail, of Duluth, Minn., David and wife, Susan, of Woonsocket, R.I., Margaret “Peggy” Tower and husband, Ronald, of Belfast, Fran Riley and husband, Jack, of Belfast, Roberta Fuller of Belfast, Debra Pendleton and husband, Stephen, of Stockton Springs and Robert and wife, Ruth, of Belmont; best friend and sister, Frances Carr of New Gloucester Shaker Community, 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She also leaves special friends and members of New Gloucester Shaker Community, including Brother Arnold Hadd, Sister June Carpenter, Michael Graham and Leonard Brooks; dearest friends, Cindy Hustus of Mississippi and Marge Fish of Florida. She was predeceased by a son, Richard; and grandson, Michael Fuller II. The family sends a special thanks to the wonderful nurses at Waldo County General Hospital oncology department for their special loving care of our mother. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
