BAILEYVILLE – Ruth E. McLaughlin, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, surrounded by her family at her home. Ruth was born March 4, 1922, in Baileyville, daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (Johnston) Gaddis. She was a member of People’s United Methodist Church, Baileyville and enjoyed cooking, sewing, watching classic movies and spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandson. Ruth also enjoyed drawing, poetry and creating sculptures from driftwood. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Lindsay McLaughlin in 2003; and an infant son, Charles Arnold. Surviving are her two daughters, Deanna Lund and husband, Kenneth, of East Hampton, Conn., and Daphine Vail and husband, David, of Marlborough, Conn.; two sisters, Gloria Smith of Baileyville and Alice Williams of Calais; a brother, Raymond Gaddis of Calais; four grandchildren, Donna Lund and Julie Agli and husband, Bruce, both of East Hampton, Conn., David Vail of Bridgeport, Conn., and Douglas Vail of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a great-grandson, Tyler Agli; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at People’s United Methodist Church, Baileyville, with Pastor Bernie Hammond officiating. Burial will be after at Woodland Cemetery.
