CARIBOU and BANGOR – Ruth G. “Jere” Plourde, 83, wife of Emery G. Plourde, died Sept. 2, 2006, at her home in Bangor. She was born Dec. 27, 1922, in Caribou, the daughter of Bruce and Rose (Sirois) Keating. She was a graduate of Caribou High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a past member of the Daughters of Isabella and a minister of the Eucharist. She spent many years as a volunteer at the Caribou Nursing Home comforting the elderly. Jere was a devoted wife and mother to her family. She enjoyed leisure time with her family and friends snowmobiling and golfing, and was a master at Scrabble and Yahtzee. She enjoyed different crafts and was an avid reader, spending many hours at the Caribou Public Library. Surviving in addition to her husband, Emery of Bangor are her sons, Ronald his wife, Lynn, of Holliston, Mass., Robert and his wife, Linda, of Cumberland, R.I., Emery Jr. of Bennington, Vt., John and his wife, Alverna, of Hermon and her daughter, Jane and partner, William Turner, of Framingham, Mass. She is also survived by her very special daughter-in-law, Debra of Caribou along with her grandchildren, Jessica, Allison, Melissa, Jennifer and Aaron; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons, James and Richard; a brother, John Keating; and a sister, Mavis Keating. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with the Fr. David Raymond, associate pastor, officiating in a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place in the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery. The family expresses their appreciation for the special care provided by Dr. Cynthia Milles, as well as the staff of Home Health and Hospice of St. Joseph’s. A deep sense of gratitude is also extended to Betty, Donna and Holly, Jere’s “guardian angels” from Tender Elder Care.
