A 14-year-old girl was arrested in a drive-by shooting of a vehicle that happened early Saturday morning in Lebanon.
The Sanford girl, the second suspect arrested in the shooting, has been charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, Chief Deputy Jeremy Forbes of the York County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
Her arrest comes after Zachary Shaw, 19, of Sanford was charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and criminal mischief in connection with the shooting.
Shaw was driving a black sedan on Route 202 about 2 a.m. when he pulled up alongside another vehicle. Several bullets were fired, two of which hit the other vehicle — one of which penetrated the driver’s side door and the other which hit a tire, disabling the vehicle, Forbes said over the weekend.
The other vehicle’s driver wasn’t hit by gunfire.
Shaw and the girl fled. Police in Sanford spotted Shaw in the sedan about 4:40 a.m. at a business, where he was arrested. A gun was found inside the car.
Shaw was taken to the York County Jail in Alfred, where he was being held on $25,000 bail ahead of a Monday court appearance.
The girl was taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland after her arrest.
The shooting remains under investigation.
