Robert Carlton was selected Maine County Official of August in honor of his community service by Spirit of America Foundation’s Maine Chapter. Carlton has served four years as a commissioner of Franklin County, including some time as commission chair.
In spare time Carlton has been a firefighter in Carrabassett Valley for a very impressive 40-plus years. Over that span he has responded to countless emergencies, including fires, back country rescues, car accidents and EMS. He annually spends a significant amount of time in training to best respond to crises.
Carlton has served on the Maine Health EMS Advisory and has represented Franklin County as a director on the Maine County Commissioners Association Board.
Carlton has played a key role in Franklin County Spirit of America events and been helpful to the cause of volunteerism in other ways over the years.
Maine Spirit of America is a chapter of Spirit of America Foundation, an organization promoting community service.
