HOULTON, and PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Ruth Tingley passed away Nov. 10, 2004, at her home. She was born Jan. 24, 1917, in Houlton the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Victory) Anderson. Ruth enthusiastically managed the “Toot ‘n Tell” restaurant on the North Road in Houlton for 24 years. She then opened the “Rusty Nail” craft shop permitting her to enjoy many years of painting pictures and making crafts. Our mother had such a zest for living and was one of few women who at age 55 learned to ride a motorcycle and at the age of 66 went on a 7,000 mile motorcycle trip. In her lifetime she visited every state in the United States including Hawaii and Alaska. She and Clifford traveled to France and England and went on cruises. Life was good and she enjoyed it. Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Clifford Tingley; two sons, Stan and his wife, Janice, of Carrabassett, Robert and his wife, Marie, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; daughter, Carolyn Schultz and her husband, Walt, of Brewer; grandchildren, Kelly and Tracy Tingley, Leanne and husband, Sam Allen, Randy Schultz and wife, Lisa, Terri Lewis and husband, Steve, Jessie and Joanna Tingley; stepgrandchildren, Randy Moran, Tammy Judkins and Tracey Foley; great-grandchildren, Zoe Kubachka, Taylor Schultz, Karah and Seth Lewis, Randy Moran Jr., Chandler Foley and Ronald Moran. Ruth will be sadly missed. The funeral service will be in Port Charlotte, Fla. and a Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be at Carrabassett Valley, on a date to be announced.
