SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Ruth Kittredge Dolliver, 97, died Oct. 23, 2004, at a Bar Harbor care facility. She was born July 29, 1907, in Tremont, the daughter of Wilford H. and Sarah Carroll Kittredge. Mrs. Dolliver graduated from Castine Normal School in 1925, and became the youngest certified teacher in the State of Maine. After teaching in Rumford Center for two years she married Morris A. Dolliver of Manset. Mr. and Mrs. Dolliver lived in Edison, New Jersey for many years where Mr. Dolliver was employed by Bristol-Myers-Squibb as a research chemist. In 1967, the couple retired to Southwest Harbor. The major focus of Mrs. Dolliver’s life was homemaking and caring for her family, children and grandchildren. She also was active in the Southwest Harbor Nursing Association and served on the board of directors for several years. Mrs. Dolliver is survived by her children, David M. Dolliver of Shelton, Wash., Peter H. Dolliver of Manset, Margaret D. Kinneer of Centennial, Colo., 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by Morris, her husband of 70 years. According to her wishes, no services will be held.
