BLAINE and PRESQUE ISLE – Ruth L. Bubar, 90, died Oct. 13, 2005, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. She was born Sept. 23, 1915, in Manchester, N.H., the daughter of Harold and Rachel (Tuck) Holbrook. Ruth graduated from Keene High School in New Hampshire, did her undergraduate study in Skidmore, N.Y., and then her graduate study at the University of New Hampshire. She married Luther James Bubar Feb. 5, 1943, moved to Mars Hill where she taught music in the Mars Hill, Blaine, Bridgewater and Robinson schools for many years. Ruth was a long time member of Friendship Chapter No. 140 OES in Mars Hill, the Mars Hill Literary Guild and had been a great supporter of the community and school activities. Ruth shared her musical gifts with many organizations including the Blaine Free Baptist Church where she was the organist and choir director for many years. Surviving her is her husband of over 62 years, Luther J. Bubar Sr. of Presque Isle; a son, Luther James Bubar Jr. and his wife, Constance, of Presque Isle; a daughter, Rebecca Bubar of Brewer; granddaughters, Jessica Ruffolo; and her husband, Lewis, of North Kingston, R.I. and Angela Somerville of Los Angeles, Calif.; a great-granddaughter, Morgan Elizabeth Ruffolo, a brother, Robert Holbrook of Laconia, N.H. and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Bruce Bubar. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Relatives and friends may call the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Tapley Cemetery in Blaine.
