HAMPDEN and STILLWATER – Ruth Robinson Grant, 88, died Dec. 12, 2005, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Stillwater. She was born Jan. 6, 1917, in Unity, the daughter of Beverly and Helen Mabel (Ward Stone) Robinson. On a freezing cold New Years Eve of 1937, our mother married the late Raymond Grant, a blessed union that left a legacy which now includes three children, nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Ruth attended the University of Maine and beauty school. She worked as a beautician until the first child arrived. Thereafter she concentrated on being the best mom in the world, supporting her children in school activities, PTA, dancing class, scouting and the Eastern Star. Ruth is survived by three children, Brian Grant and wife, Linda, of Monroe, Wash., Julie Mingo and husband, Donald, of Stillwater and Sue Stacey and husband, Richard, of Holden and Boynton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Elizabeth Pugsley of Auburn; two stepsisters, Lois Barnes and Grace Griffin of Nashville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Lori, Lynn, Darlene, Candy, Cathy, Heidi, Tina, Richard and Jennifer; and 18 great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial service at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Clifton, will be announced in the spring. Gifts in her memory may be made to CancerCare of Maine, care of Eastern Maine Charities, P.O.
