BANGOR – Ruth R. McDonough, 89, died Oct. 13, 2004 at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor. She was born in Bangor, Feb. 18, 1915, the daughter of James E. and Josephine (Welch) McDonough. Ruth was a very active communicant of St. John’s Catholic Church in Bangor. She was a member of the St. John’s Women’s Council and was very active as a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital. Ruth served in the United States Navy during World War II. She retired from Bell Telephone Company and resided in Bangor most of her life. She is survived by one brother, James L. “Bud” McDonough, and one sister, Phyllis M. McDonough, both of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 at St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in the family lot, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. Per Ruth’s wishes there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by Greenlawn Funeral Directors, 300 State St., Bangor. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to the charity of their choice.
