HOULTON – Ryan C. McLaughlin, 27, passed away June 20, 2005, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 13, 1977, in Augusta, the son of Mac and Marion (White) McLaughlin. Ryan grew up in Readfield; graduating from Gig Harbor High School in Washington State and the School of Modern Welding in Albany, N.Y. He spent several years working in Washington State building elevator lifts for Northwest Airlines, then moving to New York to work on bridges. Most recently he was employed with Cianbro Corp., working on the self-propelled oil rigs in Portland. He enjoyed being at East Grand Lake and building Jeeps with his family. Ryan is survived by his parents of East Greenbush, N.Y.; his brother, Shane McLaughlin and his wife, Meg, of Framingham, Mass.; his sister, Ashlee McLaughlin of Albany, N.Y.; his maternal grandparents, Erle and Geraldine White of Houlton; his paternal grandmother, Ethel McLaughlin of Augusta; his girlfriend whom he loved very much, Daphne Pappas; his uncle, Joe McLaughlin; his uncle and aunt Russell and Amber White, cousins, Patrick and Aaron; his uncle and aunt, Roger and Cindy White, cousins, Jacob and Douglas; his uncle and aunt, James and Ellen Curtiss. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Donald A. McLaughlin Sr.; and also by his aunt, Maxine White. There will be no visiting hours. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St., Houlton, with the Rev. David Rowe, officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
