ORLAND – Michael L. Stoddard, 68, died June 16, 2005, at his home. He was born Jan. 15, 1937, in Boston, Mass., the son of Ruth I. (Greenlaw) and Leroy G. Stoddard Sr. He grew up in Abbington, Mass., and summered in Bass Harbor and Molasses Pond. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1954-1957 in the Division 2 Armored Tank “Hell On Wheels” Company. He then served in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1962. Mike operated Stoddard Oil Company in Abbington with his Dad until 1970. He moved to Maine in 1970 and worked with the Maine Department of Transportation in Orland until his retirement in 1997. Most recently, Michael worked for Laidlaw Transit, Orland, a job he enjoyed greatly. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Leroy and Ruth; his sister, Beth; and his loving wife of 40 years, Jackie. He is survived by his son, Michael and his wife, Kim, of Orland; his two wonderful grandsons, Bill and Derek of Orland; his brother, Lee and his family of Sharon, Mass.; his brother, Harry and his family, of Belmont, Mass.; many nieces and nephews. Mike will also be missed by his special friends, Bill and Bernadine Barter of Isle au Haut. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick, officiating. <>
