CASTINE – Sallie Hope Erhard, 77, died Oct. 21, 2006, at home. She was born Nov. 30, 1928, in Salem, Mass., to Francis and Hope (MacPherson) Brown. She graduated from Low-Heywood School in 1946 and Radcliff College in 1950. While actively raising and supporting the demands of four children, Sallie worked in education as a teacher and a librarian at Fenn and Middlesex Schools in Concord, Mass. With heart and pride she also coached crew, basketball and refereed field hockey. Sallie came to Castine as a young lady spending summers here with family at her great-aunt, Dorothy Blake’s house. Sallie continued the tradition with her husband, Henry and children, becoming active in the Castine Golf Club. She was an avid golfer and an enthusiastic member of the Women’s Committee. She served many good causes including the Bagaduce Ambulance Corps and the Trinity Episcopal Church. She is survived by her devoted husband, Henry; four children, Hope McNally and her husband, John, of Hudson, Ohio, Lincoln and his wife, Kerrin, of Boothbay, Henry and his wife, Laurie, of Castine and Paul and his wife, Susan Tomases, of Hamilton, Mass.; and eight grandchildren. A service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Perkins Street, Castine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O.
