HODGDON – Sally Mae (Royal) Horten, 58, died Dec. 17, 2005, at her residence surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was born June 17, 1947, at Houlton, the daughter of Maurice Irvin and Irma Louise (Knapp) Royal. Sally attended Hodgdon Schools and was a 1965 graduate of Hodgdon High School. She was employed by Putnam Brothers Company for more than nine years, then McGillicuddy Oil Co. for many years. For more than the last 15 years, Sally had been co-owner and operator of Horten Building Supply, working hand in hand with her husband and son. She is survived by her husband, Kent Horten; her son, Brett N. Horten; her daughter, Janelle Ann Horten; one grandson, Dawson King; two brothers, Gregory Royal and his wife, Lucie, Jeffrey Royal and his wife, Pat; four sisters, Norma Keown and her husband, Paul, Barbara Shaw, Paulette Shoemaker, Donna Cyr and her husband, Leland; her special companion, “Baxter;” two special friends, Christina Desedero and Randy Kneeland; she also leaves the Horten Crew who she loved like family, several nieces and nephews and many great and special friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Reginald T. Fitzpatrick; and her brother, Robert I. Royal. A private funeral service was conducted Monday, with the Rev.
