BETHEL – Samuel H. Timberlake, 89, died April 21, 2008, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, South Paris. Sam was born Feb. 1, 1919, in Turner. He was the youngest son in a family of three sons and two daughters born to Charles Heath Timberlake and Lena (Shaw) Timberlake. He loved the outdoors, camping with his family, the visual arts and designing and building furniture. He was the founder of a successful family owned and operated furniture business, S. Timberlake Co., and was a proud and active member of the Bethel community for 47 years. He was a member of numerous associations and forest industry organizations. He is survived by his wife, Natalie; his son, Ross and his wife, Carole; two stepgrandsons, Joshua Sillsby of Portsmouth, N.H., and Rawson Sillsby of Kittery; a granddaughter, Arianne Scoville of Connecticut; three nephews, Stanley and William of Turner and Robert of Livermore; several great-nephews and great-nieces. He was predeceased by his older son, Seth Asher; two sisters, Elizabeth Timberlake and Laura Wade; and two brothers, Lloyd and Dwight. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, at West Parish Congregational Church, Bethel. A reception at the church will be after the service. A visitation hour for family and friends will precede the service 1 p.m. in the church chapel. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Bethel.
