NEWPORT and ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Samuel P. Buzzell, 99, died Feb. 2, 2005, at his granddaughter’s Livermore residence. He was born April 26, 1905, at Woodland, a son of Leslie and Ethel (Dwelley) Buzzell. He moved to Newport at a young age, and attended Newport, Stetson and Etna schools. He was employed at Pioneer Woolen Mill in Pittsfield and retired from H. P. Hood Co. in Newport. He attended St. James United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, Fla. He is survived by two daughters, Maxine and husband, Winston Head, of Homosassa, Fla., Ethel and husband, Dean Lishness, of Pleasant Ridge Plantation; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Sam was predeceased by his first wife, Arlene Buzzell in 1980; and his second wife, Ruth Stewart in 2000; a son, John; a daughter, Leona Adams; as well as a brother, Earl; and a sister, Hazel Stevens. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating.
