HOULTON – Sandra A. Anderson, 69, passed on peacefully May 29, 2006, at a local hospital after a long illness. She was born March 22, 1937, at Houlton, the daughter of Clifton K. and Margaret (Roach) Adams. Sandra was a graduate of Houlton High School and the University of Maine at Orono. She was a member of Saint Mary of the Visitation Church, the Maine State Teachers Association and other social clubs. She married her high school sweetheart, Budson Anderson, May 26, 1956. They moved to Mount Holly, N.J., where Bud was stationed in the U.S. Army at Fort Dix. She worked for the Post Ordinance Office and taught at several elementary schools. They returned to Houlton in 1957, where they raised a family and where Sandra was employed by MSAD No. 29 for 14 years as an elementary teacher at Littleton and Houlton elementary schools. Sandra is survived by her devoted husband, Bud, with whom she celebrated their 50th anniversary last week; her daughters, Kimberly York and her husband, Richard, of Charlotte, N.C. and Jayne Anderson of Houlton; her son, James Anderson and his wife, Andrea (Annie Wall), of Charlotte, N.C.; her four grandsons, Jamison York of New York City, N.Y., Wilson York and his wife, Carey, who were married on Bud and Sandra’s 45th anniversary, of Centreville, Va. and Nicholas York and Logan Anderson, both of Charlotte, N.C.; her great-grandson, born this year on her birthday, Carter York of Centreville, Va.; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Anderson of Littleton, Robert and Jeanette (Benn) Anderson of Houlton, Judith (Anderson) and David Arnold of Williamsburg, Va., William and Betty (Lincoln) Anderson, and Ralph Tozier, all of Orient; several nieces, nephews and very close cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Stephen Linwood Anderson; her “older sister”, Jean Tozier; her in-laws, Linwood and Clara (Carroll) Anderson. Friends may call 7-9 p.m Thursday at the Dunn Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church with Fr. Eddy Morin, celebrant. Interment will be in Littleton Cemetery.
