LIMESTONE and CROSS LAKE – Sandra Ann (Thompson) Cyr, 75, died unexpectedly Dec. 29, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 5, 1932, in Limestone, the daughter of the late Cecil and Julia (Chase) Thompson. Sandra was a 1949 graduate of Limestone High School and in 1953 she received her bach-elors degree in English from Colby College. Her teaching career included two years at Garland Street School, Bangor; two years at Loring Air Force Base Testing and Education Office; and concluded with 18 years teaching English at Lime-stone High School. Disabling injuries from a car accident caused her early retirement from education in 1983. Sandra spoke fondly and frequently of the many students whom she taught during her career. On Feb. 22, 1956, she married Thomas L. Cyr, who for 51 years and through the final moments of her life, remained her loyal, dedicated and loving husband. Together, they raised three sons and a daughter. Sandra was a voracious reader, loved traveling, and playing cards and board games with her family and friends. She dedicated tremendous energy and time to her family and friends, as well as to Limestone United Methodist Church, where she served as organist for a number of years. Following in the proud tradition of her parents, Sandra was always concerned with those who were down on their luck and welcomed several people and families into the family home for extended stays. She was known to quietly direct considerable generosity towards those she knew to be struggling. Surviving, in addition to her husband, Thomas of Cross Lake, are three sons, Jon of Bangor, Peter of Norfolk, Va., and Robert of Duluth, Ga.; one daughter, Julia Carciero and her husband, Ronald, of Ded-ham, Mass.; her two grandchildren, who she loved dearly and spoke of daily, Amanda Cyr and Dominic Carciero; a sister, Pamela Hosking of Davenport, Wash.; several in-laws, including Mike and Eleanor Cyr, Marilyn Cyr, Conrad and Diana Cyr, Daniel Cyr and Robert Hosking; her loyal and steadfast friends, Rona Leighton, Fritzie Thompson, Jean Parker, Darylen and Hap Cote, Lynn and Al Voisine; her cousin, Jean Porter and many other friends and relatives. Mrs. Cyr was predeceased by a cousin, Mary Irvine; a sister-in-law, Judy Cyr; and her best friends, Keith and Doris Thompson.
