GLENBURN – Sandra L. Hawkes, passed away on Feb. 6, 2004, after a brief illness. She was born May 16, 1948, in Bangor, the daughter of Richard Melvin and Mary (Baker) Melvin. Sandi graduated from Bangor High school and was a very well known florist in the Bangor area. She was most recently employed at Johnson Florist in Bangor. She is survived by her devoted husband, Skip Hawkes of Glenburn. Sandi was a loving mother to her two daughters, Leaha and husband, Steve Dubreuil, Staci and her husband, Keith McClary, and special grandson, Logan. She had a very special and loving relationship with her father, Richard Melvin of Hermon; two sisters, Dorothy and husband, Dana Graves, of Hermon, Vicki and husband, Paul Gonyea, children, Clark and Keely, all of Hermon; one brother, Ron Hawkes and his wife, Kathleen, children, Jessica and Nicole of Camden. Sandi was very much loved by her adopted family members, Kasie Cole and daughter, Patience, of Bangor, and Shawn Hruby of Frankfort. She will be dearly missed by her most cherished friends, all members of the family of James and Connie Lynch of Holden; and deeply missed by her very dearest friend, Connie Ann Lynch of Holden. Sandi was predeceased by her mother, Mary Melvin; son, Ronald A. Hawkes and father-in-law, Frederick Hawkes Sr. A remembrance reception will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
