DETROIT – Sandra “Sandy” L. Williams, resident of North Road, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 9, 1946, in Stockton Springs, a daughter of Hartley and Marie (Russ) Fraser Sr. She attended school in Stockton Springs and Hadden Height, N.J. Sandy was employed by the Mid-Maine Medical Center, Seton Unit in Waterville for many years as a certified nurses aide; she also cared for many people in the home healthcare field. Sandy later opened a greenhouse where she was known for her hanging baskets, geraniums, seedlings and her famous tomato plants. She enjoyed spending time with her family on their cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, Mexico; Sandy loved swimming in the ocean. She was known as a caring and compassionate person that loved helping those in need. She is survived by her husband, John Williams of Detroit; a son, James and his wife, Linda Williams, of Madison; two daughters, Julette and her husband, John Babcock, their children, Bethany, Corinne; one great-granddaughter, Jewel of Stetson, L. Jodie and her husband, Jake Nyssen and their special grandson, Joshua and soon to be born granddaughter, Alexa Sandy Jo, of Detroit; an aunt and uncle, June and Ulmer Russ of Belfast. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at the Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 10, at the funeral home. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Sebasticook Valley Hospital, memorial garden fund, 99 Grove St., Pittsfield, ME 04967. Arrangements are entrusted to Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, Pittsfield.
