BREWER – Selma A. Ferris, 101, wife of the late Elias Ferris, went home to be with her Lord March 1, 2008, surrounded by family at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 12, 1906, in Worcester, Mass., the daughter of Salim and Adele Abusamra. Selma and Elias Ferris were married July 21, 1940, and together were the proprietors of the Ferris Store, Brewer, until their retirement in 1968. Mrs. Ferris is survived by one son, Joseph Ferris of Bre-wer; one daughter, Gayle Ferris Moores and her husband, Ronald, of North Hampton, N.H.; one brother, Ward Abus-amra of Kingston, R.I.; four grandchildren, David Moores and his wife, Sharon, of Stratham, N.H., Kelly Moores of Rye, N.H., Andrew Moores of Dover, N.H., and Jaime Ferris of Newburyport, Mass.; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kelsey and Reese Moores; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Jeannie and Victor Wilson of Brewer; many friends at Ellen Leach Home and her Church family. In addition to her parents, Selma was predeceased by three sisters and five brothers. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Brook-ings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Funeral services will be held noon Thursday, March 6, at West Hampden Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Farley officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the church immediately after the service. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor, at a later date.
