SANFORD – Sharon Gallagher Tarbox, RN, 66, of 68 Twombley Rd., Sanford, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at Goodall Hospital in Sanford. She was born Feb. 10, 1939, Sharon Anne Gallagher, in Island Falls to Erwin A. and Dorothy E. (Webb) Gallagher. She was a 1956 graduate of Skowhegan High School and a 1959 graduate of Peter Bent Brigham, now Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she was employed as a registered nurse for about a year. She later worked at the Waterville Osteopathic Hospital and the Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan. At the time of her death, she was employed with the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford. She met George A. Tarbox II in Junior High School in Skowhegan. They were married Oct. 22, 1960, in Tiverton, R.I. They moved to Norridgewock and later moved to Springvale in 1975 and finally to Sanford in 1976. She was an avid reader. She loved spending time with her family. In her early years she also enjoyed many outdoor activities. She was preceded in death by her father in 1999. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy, of Wells; her husband of almost 45 years, George, of Sanford; a son, George A. “Adam” Tarbox III of Sanford; a daughter, Melanie Jan Miller of Sanford; three brothers, Terence of Wrentham, Mass., Richard of Stone Mountain, Ga. and Brion of Auburn; a sister, Sandra Merrill of Gardiner; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are through the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. Burial will be in Skowhegan at a later date.
