OLD TOWN and ZEPHYR-HILLS, Fla. – Sharon M. Gildart died peacefully Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, surrounded by family, at her home in Zephyrhills, Fla. She was born Dec. 2, 1941, in Orono, the daughter of William and Frances (Caron) Grindle. Sharon was a kind and loving person with a deep and abiding faith. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was a caregiver and loved those in her life deeply and actively. In 1958, she married Phillip W. Gildart, who was her beloved husband until his untimely death in 1996. Sharon was an active member of First Apostolic Church of Old Town and on the board of directors for Bangor Counseling Center. She is survived by her daughter, Jody Renforth of Daytona, Fla.; and her sons, John Gildart and his wife, Laura, of Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico, and James Gildart and his wife, Cathy, of Corinth, N.Y.; her five grandchildren, Laura Gildart of Boston, Kara Renforth of Daytona, Fla., Kayla, Alexandra and Moriah Gildart, all of Corinth, N.Y.; her brothers and sisters, Bryce Grindle and his wife, Laurissa, of Orono, Carroll Grindle and his wife, Linn, of Millinocket, William Grindle of Glenburn, Darlene MacLeod and her husband, Gene Borkowski, of Hudson, and Elaine Bushey of South China; many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends in Maine and Florida. She was especially close to her niece, Joan Kiszely of Oakland. In addition to her husband, Phillip, she was predeceased by her parents; a baby brother, Galen; sister-in-law, Ellen Grindle; and brother-in-law, Norman Bushey. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, with the Pastor Alston Oliver, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service Saturday at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
