LEVANT – Sharron Marie Doughty, 57, died Aug. 10, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Sept, 8, 1947, in Fort Fairfield. Sharron graduated from Brewer High School in 1965, and later graduated from Beal College as valedictorian, Class of 1989. Her natural instincts were to be a true caregiver and to look out for people in need and to assist them with whatever problem they may have. She was a licensed Paramedic, and EMT for the Levant Rescue Squad for more than 32 years. Sharron worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a Medical Secretary in the Emergency Room Dept. for 14 years. At St. Joseph’s she was able to help people with about any problem they may have and was willing to listen and just be their friend. Because of her kind and generous nature she was called “Momma Doughty” by many people that she helped. Sharron was a volunteer for the Special Olympics in the Medic Tent for many years. There were many times that she would leave her family to go on a rescue to help someone she did not even know and then after the rescue invited the squad back to her home. Sharron was instrumental in getting other people into EMS and first aid, with many going on to be paramedics. She taught classes in CPR and First Aid in the evenings at her home so that she could be home during the day for her children. Her love for her dear husband, and best friend goes beyond words where they had a loving and comforting relationship just enjoying each others company. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years Richard Doughty, of Levant; her mother, Rachel Cray Clark of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a son, Richard Doughty and wife, Julie, of Argyle; a daughter, Kristine Doughty Moore and husband, Douglas, of Levant; a sister, Cynthia Karalielas, of North Attleboro, Mass.; five grandchildren, Clarissa, Travis, Brett, Ashley, and Dylan; mother-in-law, Wilma Doughty of Bangor; two sisters-in-law, Sandra McIntosh and husband, Dwight, of Levant, Karen Kinney and husband, Keith, of Hudson; brother-in-law, Dean Doughty and wife, Krystina, of Bangor; several nieces and nephews; and her loving dog and cat, Misha and Cookie. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, with Rick Lambert, officiating. Interment will be at Waugh Cemetery, Levant. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Bemis Plaza following the service. Box No. 1, Levant, ME 04450. The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and the emergency community for all their care and being her friend.
