SHERWOOD B. DAMON NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. – Sherwood B. Damon, 63, beloved husband of Joan (Talbot) Damon, died peacefully at home, Thursday, May 20, 2004, surrounded by his family after a year-long battle with cancer of the brain. He was born April 27, 1941, in Deer Isle, the son of Cecil and Maxine (Barbour) Damon. He had been employed by the Electric Boat of Groton, Conn., for 35 years, retiring as a general foreman and pipefitter. He was an avid woodworker, loved farming and helping his family and friends. Sherwood and Joan would have celebrated their 21st anniversary of May 21. In addition to his wife; his survivors include a sister, Marilyn Davis and her husband, Roger, of Deer Isle; a brother, Roderick Damon and his wife, Brenda, of Chesapeake Beach, Md.; two stepdaughters, Gail Stalinski and her husband, John and Karen Bridenstine and her husband, Lenny, all of Griswold, Conn. He also leaves his special granddaughter, Courtney Bridenstine; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Byron Damon. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2004, at the Guillot Funeral Home, 75 South B St., Taftville, Conn. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, in Forest Hill Cemetery in Deer Isle. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 10:30-11:30 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
